Alex Graduates

Okay this is my first post so I thought I would share one of my most favorite dessert tables yet.
I was asked by my past boss to create a beautiful dessert table to celebrate her oldest daughter Alex graduating high school & moving onto college. This girl might I add Is gorgeous inside & out and super trendy with her fashion sense. So of course this dessert spread needed to be trendy.
We chose to steer away from the usual school colors & went with a combination of gold, gray, pink & cream. Omg hello, those colors are awesome! I was so excited to get started....
Let's begin with that dresser.  Funny story, kind of. I purchased it thinking it was vintage, well until we looked at the back (made in 2005). Not my kind of vintage, but we loved it anyways. It was pretty beat up so my amazing handy hubby sanded it & scuffed it up ( in a good way). We added the pink knobs, knowing this dresser would be a perfect fit for the graduation dessert table.
Next I took a huge peace of ply wood & wrapped it with a gold polka dot burlap from Joanne fabrics. This will be my back drop.
Alex & her mom, Tiffini chose from a variety of desserts. Lemon, red velvet, vanilla & chocolate cake pops. Sugar cookies, brownie bites, chocolate dipped marshmallows & caramel apple bites. Turns out caramel doesn't stick to any part of an apple but the skin.Yes i didn't figure this out till just a few hours before the party. So improvised using butterscotch chips. Which gave me the same look & ummm hello, they were delicious. I can not take any credit for that quick thinking though. Thank goodness for my friend & neighbor Ashley who came up with the idea. She even ran to the store for me. Such a yummy accident! Oh I almost forgot, THE CAKE!!!! They let me choose this one so Of course i chose my favorite. A vanilla buttermilk cake with vanilla buttercream. Simple yet delicious.
Going with the graduation theme, I chose to make graduation cap cookies, graduation cap cake pops & gold sparkle graduation cap toppers. I also made tissue garland for our gigantic balloons, which might I add can be dangerous on a windy day. Our day..... Was windy!
Tiffini & her husband are pretty crafty themselves. They made the gorgeous lemonade stand, chicken wire photo display & those adorable pink wire reals.  Can I brag & say those all belong to me now. Eeeeek!!!!
I should really stop now. Hope you enjoy the photos from this fun celebration.
